Your privacy is very important to us. Accordingly, we have developed this Policy in order for you to understand how we collect, use, communicate and disclose and make use of personal information. The following outlines our privacy policy.

1. Before or at the time of collecting personal information, we will identify the purposes for which information is being collected.   Unless otherwise stated, information will be collected for genealogical purposes.
2. We will collect and use personal information solely with the objective of fulfilling those purposes specified by us and for other compatible purposes, unless we obtain the consent of the individual concerned or as required by law.  Genealogical data may also be collected from public and/or private information sources and may be used for genealogical purposes.   All collected genealogical information may be displayed online.
3. We will only retain personal information as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes. For genealogical information, this may be retained indefinitely.
4. We will collect personal information by lawful and fair means and, where appropriate, with the knowledge or consent of the individual concerned.  Any information sent to us grants us permission to use that information without limitation for genealogical purposes.  Please do NOT send us information that you do not want published. We will NOT treat any information sent to us as private information, contrary to any stipulations sent with this information. We will NOT filter your sent-genealogy information for you. If we find information on the Internet of interest, we may include lawful information in our databases and publish it. Requests to remove names already in our databases are typcially NOT honored. Our policy is also not to respond to these types of requests.
5. Any person submitting information to us must be 18 years of age or older, or must have explicit permision in writing from a parent or guardian.
6. Personal data should be relevant to the purposes for which it is to be used, and, to the extent necessary for those purposes, should be accurate, complete, and up-to-date. We, however, do not warrant or make any representations concerning the accuracy, likely results, or reliability of the use of the data that we compile or otherwise relating to such data.
7. We will protect personal information by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
8. Please note that Public Domain information DOES include names, dates, and places. Privacy law does NOT apply to public domain information. Our practice however is: Dates and places for living individuals will not be intentionally displayed online for those individuals born after 1950 (Note: 1950 Census is publicly available). We do maintain all obtained genealogical information in our offline databases for those born after 1950 with sources where appropriate. Just to be clear, we DO include names for those born after 1950 in our online databases that are publicly accessable, just NOT their birth dates and places, etc.
9. Source information for all of our database records should be stated in each database record online.  However, due to errors in storage, some records do not show their source information.  In addition, source information for persons determined to be living will not be shown.
10. For the Patron: Please do NOT use publically available information for identification purposes.  It is not wise to do so in the world that we live in.  Our database is a good example of what types of information is readily available online.
11. We will make readily available to patrons information about our policies and practices relating to the management of personal information.
